Beluga Sailing with perfect start into 2007
Beluga Sailing Team on a beat
Winning with six first positions out of eight races made it seem even more attractive. Main competitors Unique (GER 4815) and Extasy (GER 5801) did not stand a chance in IMS class I this time.
Very shifty and low pressure conditions made it very hard for the competing boats. The only constant factor was the sun shining throughout the whole event. A thing to remember.
Not even helmsman and owner Christian Plump had believed in such a head start at the beginning of the season. „It shows our work and mental preparation during the winter did pay of in the end. We have worked hard to find the perfect set up for this 2007 season“ explains Christian Plump the effort made by the whole team. He does not let his boat be steered by a proffessional helmsman but takes own initiative and pride in steering his own boat to victory.
„On one hand we increased our crew potential, on the other hand we achieved a GPH rating we already wanted to race with last year but did not manage to realise it last year due to too big sail sizes . Having eliminated this negative factor it has enhanced our performance to a fair rate this year.
It has only been a couple of days ago since the Evento46 received its new name Beluga Sailing Team. Named after its partner, the Bremen based heavy lift shipping company, the Beluga Sailing Team will aim for top results just like its team partner the Beluga Group. This strive for excellence is the combining factor between these two partners.
The Beluga Group as a new partner as well as the new crew can rely on the strong performance of last years boat. With this in mind, Beluga Sailing aims for victory during this years IMS World Championship in Norway. „Until then, we have to constantly increase our tactics to be able to achieve our goals“ explains tactician and multiple World Champion Markus Wieser.
